Langley Hall Arts Academy

Ethos and Vision

Langley Hall Arts Academy caters for the broad, diverse communities it serves including different faiths, cultures and beliefs.  All students are joined in learning under broadly Christian values.

A strong focus on English, Mathematics, Science and Computing ensures that all pupils can respond to the opportunities available in the local, regional and national economies by preparing them for employment at appropriate levels including; professional, managerial and technical roles.  Based on firm academic foundations, the arts plays a key additional area of focus in our school.  We give pupils opportunities to experience, develop and use their talents and skills by presenting them with a wide range of practical and creative areas of learning.  Our focus on academia and the arts gives the quality of learning often found in independent schooling. We recognise the fundamental importance of building excellence in the core skills of Numeracy, Literacy and Science and for us, it is paramount that this is encompassed within the whole education philosophy.

Our ethos is based upon the ‘four dimensional’ model of education devised by Margaret White. [1] The role of the Academy and its staff is to fulfil students’ potentials to the highest levels.  We recognise these potentials in the four-dimensional model: four foundational values, four pairs of character traits, four educational principles and four practical outcomes:
